Daily deal sites for pets!

Most of us have already signed up for sites like Groupon, livingsocial, etc and enjoy all the deals they offer, some of us even have a problem not buying several deals a week, but what about our pets? Don't they deserve awesome deals as well? Well, a number of sites have popped up offering just that. Here are a few. Unlike they're pionering counterparts Groupon and the like, the daily deal pet sites aren't yet as extensive, few are local and most don't have deals daily, more often 1 deal that lasts anywhere from 3-5 days, but they're still good to check out and sign up for. I've gotten 3 deals so far that have been really good, and a couple others that struck my fancy.

Some of the deals aren't great, like $15 for a reflective leash, big deal, but they email you only every so often because they don't have a new deal daily, so at least you aren't inundated with useless deals every day.

Here are the daily deal sites for pets...

Furryboo! - Most deals so far are kinda eh, but some are very good. I got $40 for $80 worth of merchandise at a huge online pet store. The deal was available for 5 days. Loved it, so did mah pup. They've even had 2 offers for reduced Petco.com GC's as well. Worth signing up.

Doggyloot - They seem to be on the way to working it out, I've seen them have okay deals, like $25 for $50 worth of Petzlife products (an awesome product that removes plaque and tartar from doggy teeth), but offers are still few and far between, and most of them sorta eh. A promising site though imo. Worth checking out from time to time.

Trubates - This daily deal site isn't just for pets, but they have a pets section and i've already gotten 2 good deals for mah pup, including $40 for $80 worth of grooming at a pet center near me. Also got $15 for $30 worth of other stuff at the same place. Yay! AND, for all other types of deals they are great as well! Probably my favorite daily deal site next to the original Groupon. Highly recommend signing up.

Barkingdeals.com - They're new and have partnered with Dogster.com so it'll be interesting if they figure out how to make it work. Barking Deals site does PLAN have local deals in addition to their national online offers, but they haven't surfaced yet. Right now the offers are usually direct product offers you purchase from the site, but from national brands like Kong, or Petzlife. Usually half the retail price and free shipping. Definitely worth visiting from time to time.

Simplypet - so far I haven't see anything good, and the deals you get are pretty week. Like $2.50 off a Nylabone. ?. Next.

ThePetDeal - It's early in the game for these guys and they've only put out couple of deals, but the last one was for 4 walks for $20 with a commercial dog walking company, and I've seen another for $50 for a full 3 days weekend boarding/daycare at Happy Paws. : ). Worth signing up for if you live in Manhattan, NYC

Coast Guard to BP: Speed it up, stop the spill

"The Coast Guard sent a testy letter to BP's chief operating officer that said the company urgently needs to pick up the pace and present a better plan to contain the spill by the time President Barack Obama arrives on Monday for his fourth visit to the beleaguered coast. The letter, released Saturday, follows nearly two months of tense relations between BP and the government and reflects the growing frustration over the company's inability to stop the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history."

Nothing to worry about any more folks, the Obama administration had the Coast Guard send a letter asking BP to hurry.

The dispute escalated on the same day that ominous new signs of the tragedy emerged on the beaches of Alabama. Waves of unsightly brown surf hit the shores in Orange Beach, leaving stinking, dark piles of oil that dried in the hot sun and extended up to 12 feet from the water's edge for as far as the eye could see.

"Escalated"? Here's the thing. Barry can make as many belated trips as he wants to pretend he is concerned about anything other than his shot at a second term, but the letter the Zero administration had sent to BP has a date on it, and unless Barry can successfully scratch out the date and everyone's memory, the truth has been written. Every time Obama rambles on in a bizarre scene (any time he opens his mouth) there are so many things that are wrong it that I can never quite figure out what the hell he was going for or what the hell he's talking about. Anyone have any idea what-so-ever?

To defend himself from critics who say he has not done enough to protect the U.S., it's citizens and it's endangered species from the worst environmental disaster the U.S. has ever faced, Obama went on Matt Lauer to..set the record straight?

"I was down there a month ago, before most of these talking heads were even paying attention to the Gulf," Obama told NBC's "Today" show in an interview that aired Tuesday. "A month ago I was meeting with fishermen down there, standing in the rain talking about what a potential crisis this could be."

A variety of critics have accused Obama of being too cerebral in his reaction to the undersea gusher now fouling the Gulf of Mexico, of failing to put the full force of the administration and of putting too much trust in oil company BP. NBC's Matt Lauer asked Obama about the criticism that he should spend more time in the Gulf instead of with experts and "kick some butt."

Obama told NBC his deliberations have been more than academic.

"I don't sit around talking to experts because this is a college seminar," Obama continued. "We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick."

Ok, firstly, the word ass must have been planned, clearly someone told him to say at some point that there would be an ass-kicking, that was not impromptu. Who wrote the statement and what was it for? Was it to show toughness? I'm not sure the critiques were about his not being tough enough. So was it for distraction? Did someone say "say the word ass so people will be talking about you saying the word ass"? Why would people be so hung up on the word ass that they would forget that an increasing amount of the United States Coastline is under siege.

So even before the "talking heads" (???) were interested he wanted to know whose ass to kick, has he figured it out yet? He didn't mention that, so can we assume he still has not? And what does he mean to kick an ass. Was that his main objective? Shouldn't the main objectives have been to stop the gusher and stop as much of the damage as possible? And when he finally figures out "whose ass to kick", what will this ass-kicking entail? Why didn't Matt Lauer ask him? And it's been weeks since he went down to "talk to folks", why has there not been any sort of ass kicking? Why would these "folks" help him to knows whose ass to kick? Why do we give a crap that he was standing in the rain?

Once again, Obama has me completely baffled. He gets more bizarre by the second. Remember in the beginning when W. could speak a complete sentence and toward the end he could barely string 2 words together? Uh-oh, that tells me this could only get worse.

Just when you thought he couldn't get any more ridiculous....

(CNN) -- President Barack Obama said Friday that the economy's addition of 431,000 jobs in May is another sign that an economic recovery is underway, though he also warned that there are going to be "some ups and downs" in the months ahead.

"The economy's getting stronger by the day," he said. But the recovery is "still in its early stages."

Obama made his remarks during a visit to a commercial truck dealership in Hyattsville, Maryland.

While the addition of 431,000 jobs was the largest monthly gain since March 2000, temporary hiring for the U.S. Census was responsible for 411,000 of the new positions, according to the Labor Department. Private sector employers only added 41,000 jobs.

Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast an overall gain of 500,000 jobs in May.

"Even if you put those temporary (Census) jobs aside, there's no doubt we saw another month of private sector job growth," Obama said. The president argued that the new jobs numbers were evidence that his economic program is working.

Obama slammed his Republican opponents, arguing that the country "can't go back to the very same policies that failed us in the last decade."

"I don't want to go backward. I want to move forward," he said, echoing a campaign-style theme he stressed earlier in the week in a speech in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania."

I guess his handlers told him to go back to what he does best since pretending to be president didn't work out to well.

Patterson questioning his ability to be in office after their propagating lies of an affair and not bothering to investigate his possible improprieties regarding criminal acts by his Aide. Instead the NYT considers the questions surrounding the possible scandal reason enough for him to drop out of office. What the hell has Caroline Kennedy done for them that they hate the man this badly. They really wanted to gallop off to Camelot with their unity pony and now the reality that it's never going to happen can be no one else's fault but Patterson's of course.

1. Obama's constant lies about how he would go about healthcare. No mandate, ("it would bankrupt families"), No tax on healthcare plans ("ridiculous"), a public option, no payroll tax increase on people making under $250,000 a year, etc, etc, etc, etc.

He sold something he didn't produce, and he should be held accountable for that. He should not be allowed to put through a bill he didn't work on, or fight for, or deliver what he said he would in any way what so ever. It's a shitty bill BECAUSE he is the President. 2. He needs to become a real president. A real president can get 1 or 2 votes from the other party, so far Obama has not secured 1 republican vote on healthcare, this is because he is inept. He needs to prove to the people that he deserves a 2nd term. If he cannot get 1 vote from a person from the other party, he will not be re-elected, which he does not deserve to be.

3. The tax increases he is proposing (even botox? c'mon) and the bill's inability to lower the cost of healthcare, need to be stopped in their tracks.

4. If Obama fails, and has to leave the WH, Michelle has to go with him!! Woohoo!!!!!! This alone should make you want to volunteer. Imagine her gone, gone, gone. Um, HELLO! Sorry Michelle, I had a chance to 'think about your approach and tone' and I don't like it. Pack your frocks dear! (Vote Scott Brown!)

5. Obama is dangerous, and everything he puts through is a failure. So far he has failed the commander in chief test more than once. His stimulus plan was a FAILURE. Do you want this man with his hands in your healthcare? A man who has no proposal to increase the number of doctors when millions of people get their new mandated insurance? C'mon. Speaking of dangerous, I'm sure we've all notice that Bill Clinton is STILL being smeared as a racist. This began during Obama's campaign. Obama could have reeeled it in, but chose not to. What a fucking surprise that these bunch of fucking liars did what Barack shithead Obama said they wouldn't (oh yeah, and here is Baucus pretending it wasn't under proposal). I applaud fiscal conservatives for challenging the Dems on some of the costs of the healthcare bill, but they are unfortunately completely outmatched and will be unable to make it clear that Barack Obama and the Democrats just raised taxes on people who make under $250,000 and disproportionately on women.

Our Democratic congress has put a tax of 5% in the healthcare bill, on elective cosmetic procedures. The 5% tax includes everything from botox to a boob job.

Sneaky little tax since there's still a disdain/stigma for people who elect to have cosmetic surgery, but it also includes procedures all the way down to a fractal laser peel for someone with pitted acne scars. Give me a break. And high horse liberals and other judgmental people will scoff and make fun at anyone who disagrees with the new bo-tax, but fuck them. Go ahead and eat your granola, let the gray show, and judge women for yet another choice, but a lot of women who are trying to get ahead just that little bit more, or just want to change something that's bothered them for a while, turn to cosmetic surgery, or even less invasive technologies, to get a boost. So ladies, when you're done waking your kids up, dropping them off to school, working full time then taking care of the household and paying your bills, save up an extra $500 to give to people being forced to buy insurance before you release the lines on your face.

The tax would hit elective cosmetic procedures exempting those "necessary to ameliorate a deformity arising from, or directly related to, a congenital abnormality, a personal injury resulting from an accident or trauma, or disfiguring disease." It would go into effect, according to the bill, on Jan. 1, 2010. The "botax," as some have called it, was originally considered in the Senate Finance Committee but was dropped at the time.

And yes, the VAST majority of people who have cosmetic procedures, make under $250,000, and over $50,000 (aka, the middle class, and those that will not get subsidies for their mandatory health insurance plans, but instead pay for others' subsidies). And the majority of people who go through with elective cosmetic procedures are women, 91% in fact. And maybe people like Nancy Pelosi can afford 5% of $10,million dollars of surgery she's had, but if someone like me decides that I want to take some of the fat out from underneath my eyes, with $5,000 of my very hard earned and saved up money, I'll have to fork over $250 to the Feds for Max Baucus' shitty healthcare plan so Obama can get his ratings up for passing something. Plan on getting a little lipo on top of your blephroplasty? That's $500 you'll owe so you can pay for other people's overpriced mandated insurance.

Hey republicans, conservatives, fiscal minded-democrats, libertarians, don't let these guys pull a fast one on you. Call it what it is, a Half a Billion Dollar tax on over 10 million people.

Oh, and while I was looking at the information on taxing elective cosmetic surgery and procedures, I saw that Corizine, that elitist fuck, instituted a similar 6% tax. Although I severely dislike Chris Christy , here's hoping Barack Obama and many of the dems in congress go the way of Jon Corzine.

On a lighter note, might be a good time to invest in a medical tourism company, their business of sending people overseas will increase quite a bit if this tax is included in the final bill. On Sept 8th Barack Obama is giving Yet Another Speech. This time to children starting at age 5. While the topic is important, telling kids to study hard and stay in school, the methods make you wonder what the goal really is. And even if the goal is sincere, the White House is not steering clear of leading a cult of personality of Barack Obama. This isn't the first time this has happened of course, it was part of his campaign as well, but bringing it to school children is way out of line.

The U.S. Department of Education sent instructions to teachers on how to prep their students for the Obama's speech. It is full of child indoctrination via some horrendous propaganda while encouraging cult of personality.

After members of the Congressional Black Congress bullied other CBC members to un-endorse Clinton and endorse Obama based on color (lovely), now one of the leaders of that effort has finally woken up. And it only took him 5 broken promises, 3 Major fuckups and 10 months to figure it out. Duhhhhh.

But seems actual results and benefits for people of color didn't matter to John Conyers, instead the color of the candidate meant more than the quality of peoples lives. The article by Obie propaganda "news" outlet, MSNBC, regarding the release of the 2 American Journalist, both sentenced to 12 years to hard labor in North Korea, after some negotiations with White House officials features an interesting statement by an associate researcher at Stanford University. In the 11th paragraph of 14 MSNBC adds this, as the main focus of what was Bill Clinton's role in the matter, and the only comment on what exactly were the negotiations:

The journalists' release followed weeks of quiet negotiations between the State Department and the North Korean mission to the United Nations, said Daniel Sneider, associate director of research at Stanford University's Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center.

Clinton "didn't go to negotiate this, he went to reap the fruits of the negotiation," Sneider said.

In February of 2009 Congress passed a $787,000,000,000 stimulus plan. The White House says only 10% of it has been spent, so we shouldn't worry about the rising unemployment rate, he'll get to the rest at some point. ???? Well, that time seemed to have come when one part of the stimulus programed seemed successful, a free $4,500 to people who drive cars with under 13mpg to buy a new car. Giving away $4,500 per person was so successful (imagine that) that they decided to give away another 2 billion dollars at $4,500 per person (hey, where's *my* $4,500! Oh, in someone else's pocket, but I digress). So instead of taking the additional $2billion dollars to give away from the almost 90% of the stimulus package still to be spent, they passed a bill for another 2billion dollars to be added to our national debt. Lovely.

Oh, remember when after passing the stimulus package and democrats asked for another? Obama said, no, he wouldn't, now they'll just get it in bit by bit. Thanks for the honesty bozo.

She makes even the most tumultuous daunting and delicate tasks, seem easy. She gets results. Imagine how much better our economy would be if she were president.

Gates continues making media rounds...to promote his new book...

At Martha's Vinyard Gates makes his "First public appearence" since Obama's beer fest all of 3 days ago. In a speech in front of high society attendents, Gates talks about the bomb threats and death threats he's received, it makes you wonder why Obama gets off the hook for putting people's personal issues out there to their detriment, including the 911 caller who had to retain a lawyer and probably also received threats, (oh, and yet still no apology from the Pretendident). Although it's not really to Gates detriment, something tells me his upcoming book will sell many more books with his recent extremely high profile drama. Later at his time at the mic, Gates laughingly says he's offered to get Crowley's children into Harvard as long as he doesn't arrest him any more. Now, maybe it wasn't just a fun joke he made, even though he laughs while he says it and people erupt in laughter, but I'll be watching to see if he actually gets Crowley's kids into Harvard.

"I offered to get his kids into Harvard if he doesn't arrest me again," he said, drawing loud laughter from the audience. (um, ha ha?)

What was the reason for Gates high profile appearance at the festival at Martha's Vinyard? Promoting his new book.

Anyone remember the video of Acorn workers picketing John Mccain's campaign office wearing Acorn gear saying their going to beat mccain down? Reporter correcting a pundit that Obama's reception in Ghana was nothing grand? The Boycott MSNBC video ('Mad as Hell')? Fox news video showing several police cars outside at a chaotic caucus site? All gone.

So it's up to you to make sure these types of videos don't disappear. Or any video that we might want to keep, like writers of the Washington Post saying that Hillary would drink "bitch" beer. Fortunately Media Matters caught that one in time and put it back up.

How bout you (a great many people) knock that fucking chip off your shoulder and work for whatever cause you feel would make the most difference to the things affecting the socio-economic inequality in our country and in your state. Lately there's been something Conservatives, some Democrats, Liberals and Republicans agree on, unfortunately the news is bad...Obama really has been a true disaster.

It all started with the stimulus package. The left and right disagreed on how to handle it, but many on both sides knew Obama didn't know what he was doing. But since it was Democrats that the people voted in this year, Barack and the Democrats were the ones who got to take charge of working on our economic crisis, they had a strong enough majority that they didn't need republican support. The American people were willing to give him a chance. Still, Obama wanted to prove he was post partisan politics so he demanded democrats whittle down the package that *they built* while giving no input as to how to shape it for well rounded recovery. I'm still not sure why Obama presided over the package in the way he did (or didn't rather). The only reason I can come up with is that he just had absolutely no idea what he was doing. (Surely it couldn't be because he didn't care? Jury still out on that one). And as a result, we are now experiencing what economists told us would happen...a jobless recovery.

At work people tell me "give him a chance, it's only been 6 months". And I explain to them this. It was Obama who promised that his stimulus package would keep unemployment at 8%, that he would stop the economic free fall and he could have. He had basically free range to do whatever he wanted, so instead of listening to Bill Clinton, who told him make it bigger and make it different, instead of listening to economists who told him the same, or asking for help from people who are experienced, he opted to ask congress for a random bill (that he never read) and asked them to make it smaller while he didn't bother to shape the details of the package.

I explain to them that the reason that happened is that Barack Obama has zero experience. Zero. He deals only in rhetoric and generalities. So when it came time to look at the package he had no idea where best to appropriate the monies (so much for the scalpel). He had no idea what effect each amount of monies would have or be needed where and so instead of an 8% unemployment rate we ended up with a 9.5% unemployment rate. Many states were well over 12% unemployed. That's a huge problem. And for that he is SOLELY responsible.

When they tell me I haven't given him a chance I explain to my coworkers, acquaintances, random people I end up chatting with in bars, that his one and only job was to work on the economy. They agree on that. I tell them that the difference between 8% and 9.5% of persons unemployed and looking for work is about 1.7 million people. That means Barack Obama is personally responsible for the fact that 1.7 million people who could have had jobs, are still looking, still scraping by, still at risk of losing everything, still having a hard time making ends meet. That's not a small error. I explain that instead of taking responsibility for it and changing what he can, or asking for more money (which personally i would never give him because clearly he doesn't know how to use it), he will continue to allow a jobless economic recovery. I remind them that Bush worked the same way. The arrogance overrides reason. They get it. Or most do. The older ones. The ones who have friends and family out of work. The ones in retail who are struggling to make sales, the ones very worried about losing their jobs. 2 Coworkers told me today that they were happy about their 401K results. I was similarly happy when I saw mine. I explained to them, "exactly, that's what a jobless recovery is. The banks are doing well, (well, not all of them), huge companies will earn large profits, but your friends are still out of work and will be for quite some time".

He's a hack, and I'm even starting to doubt the man's intelligence. Is this who we are supposed to trust with our healthcare? Do you trust a man who, while a million plus people he is responsible for keeping unemployed are struggling, is hanging out at baseballs games, flying off to Russia for no good reason, calling pitchers who pitch a perfect game, instead of working night and day to work on the economy and rectify his mistakes? Do you trust a man who's arrogance leads him to never take responsibility for his actions to shape your healthcare plan? Yeah, he called Americans cynical in the press conference, because you don't trust him on health care, okie dokie. The guy who doesn't bother helping congress with the health care plan (because he can't, he doesn't understand the nuances in ways that an experienced person could) demands they give him a bill that many won't have time to read before they vote? Ah heck, maybe he's just lazy (no, that's not racist). Do you want a healthcare plan to look like the disaster that the cap and trade bill ended up being?

Personally, other than my wanting him to resign, and I think he should, I want people to wake up, and hold this man responsible for his actions. Which people are. I work closely with about 20 people. Three people in 3 weeks are no longer on team Obama. I don't take any credit for that, but I let them talk freely and openly about his hackery. Today it was his remarkable "police acted stupidly" comment. The narcissistic hack couldn't even act presidential enough to say "I don't have any comment on that at this time." or "I'm here to focus on healthcare, if you have a related question I would love to answer it". This man is a walking disaster, he has no idea what he's doing. I share my favorite tidbits when they complain "why didn't he say anything about Iran?" "I don't know" I answer, "Hillary pressed him to for days, but he wouldn't until his back was against the wall".

My opinion, time to talk to your coworkers, your acquaintances, your friends, republican or democrat, and let them know that Barack Obama is personally responsible for 1.7 million people out of work and yes, it took him only 6 months. Yes his ratings are falling but stunningly, 54% of people don't know what this man has done. It's time for them to know that it's time to hold him accountable.

In India, Hillary speaks of Arkansas

This is a wild conversation. SOS Clinton speaks at a Teach India televised media event. The convo is wild because she's always so deep. And since education is always in my top 2 reasons to pick a candidate, it's almost painful to be reminded of how vast and deep are her knowledge and interest on the subject of education, alas. Is there anything this woman can't do or doesn't know? ...didn't think so.

Anyway, I always tell people of the story a Hillary supporter from Arkansas told me, that when Hillary Clinton was first lady of Arkansas she made it mandatory that teachers had to pass a test to become or remain a teacher. And that she was picketed for it, but she didn't care and neither did Bill, they stuck to their guns. I told this story often on the campaign trail and still mention it to people, so it was a pleasant surprise to hear her speak of it, all the way in India no less, when someone asked her about it.

MR. GOSWAMI: Secretary Clinton, I have one question to ask you before I take more questions from the audience, and that question takes me to a really vicarious pleasure that I have got when I read one of your statements, where you apparently said – and I am sure many of us who have been students at any stage, and all of us have been, would really get a sense of vicarious pleasure at your statement that there must be a one-time test for teachers as well. You said that there should be a one-time test for teachers. And if I am not mistaken – correct me if I am wrong – you said if they don’t pass the test, then fire them.
SECRETARY CLINTON: Yes.
MR. GOSWAMI: We don’t have one-time tests for teachers in India, Secretary Clinton. Did you manage to get that done --

My husband came from a family where he was the first to go to college, and yet his family believed in education, so they encouraged him and they made him study. And so he became academically successful and could follow his own path in life.
So my husband asked me to work on what we could do to make our education system better. And one of the concerns that I heard from people across our state was that there was such a disparity in the quality of teaching. There were some of the great teachers who were dedicated, who were there because they loved their work, and there were teachers who should not have been teaching because they didn’t know the subject matter, they didn’t seem to really be devoted to the task of teaching.
So I proposed a – what we called a teacher test. Now these teachers remember; they had gone to college and they had been given their certificates. But there were so many complaints about their teaching and their understanding of subject matter that we said we’re going to have a test. It was so controversial.
MR. GOSWAMI: It must have been.
SECRETARY CLINTON: It was extremely difficult. But we really stuck to our guns.
MR. GOSWAMI: Did they resist?
SECRETARY CLINTON: There was great resistance and great concern about it. We stuck to our guns. There was a test designed. And about 10 percent of the teachers failed it.

Yesterday I went to check out HRC's speech but a bunch of healthcare headlines kept popping up instead. I thought to myself, that's odd, how in the heck did healthcare receive so many headlines at this very moment in time? And the headlines were so random, nothing actually new. A look through Daily Puma enlighted me as to how that happened.

Turns out Sen. Obama decided to give a bit of a talk about healthcare at the Rosebowl. Ohhhh, all the sudden the senator who has hijacked the white house decides he gives a crap about healthcare, that in and of itself is a joke, but what is not funny is that almost a year after he stole the election from Hillary Clinton his headline changing tricks to keep her off the MSM is still a part of his M.O. We all knew full well that his number 1 ambition is not to help the bitter gun clinging uniformed uninvolved cowards (Obama-speak for 'The American People'), but rather to be the most beloved moron in the world, that is the ONLY reason he would choose to try to change the headlines when HRC speaks about foreign policy. Yes, the speech was kinda boring, and as NYCgirl pointed out, it was geared more toward a specific crowd than to the masses so the complete lack of coverage wasn't too big a loss. And honestly, time and time again I have been willing to give the narcissist in chief a little time to grow up, but the fact that he cannot even stand to not be on the lips of every reporter and in the eyesight of every american 100% of the time means there is something very wrong with this "man". So set on being the only person with all the answers, so intent on being the sole face of America, he cannot bare to let anyone else be seen. In fact, the only time in recent history (that's how long it feels like it's been, oh lord give me strength) that we've been able to escape the face of the Creep, is when his ratings went down 5 points and he ran away to Russia leaving Joe Biden to face the nation. As soon as his ratings went back up he was seen yukking it up at a baseball game giving his commentary for 2 innings.

We have a truly deranged person who has hijacked the white house.

In writing below about the possible media blackout of HRC I realized something. No matter how present she is as SOS, she is not present where and how we need her most.

At first when she took the job i thought, well to hell with all the people here anyway, they're the ones who didn't bother shutting off their tv's when the entire 2008 election became an assault on women. But more and more I realize how many of us still need and deserve representation and information.

Some sort of healthcare plan will get passed this year, but many of the millions of people who voted for Hillary in the primary, which just happens to be the people who need healthcare reform the most, are not quite sure about Sen. Obama's plan. Well, it's not exactly his plan it's...oh, whose? Max Baucus and Kathleen Sebilius, Rahm and Axelrod? Only 1 of these people is mildly trust worthy, and she too has not been in the media, and since she is in Sen. Obama's admin there is no chance that she lets the american people know where the plan falls short. So who are we to look to when we have questions. Not the person who has fought for healthcare issues almost her entire adult life. Not the person who spent 8 years in the east wing working on healthcare reform. Not even Ted Kennedy.

Hillary Clinton's statements about any new justice on the supreme court for example, hold a lot more weight to regular people than anyone elses because we KNOW she cares about women and families. Her opinion on the economy means more to the public than Geithners, because she gets down the the nitty gritty. But she is not allowed to speak on domestic issues and as a part of the admin, wouldn't even be able to if where could.

NYState, suffering from a deep recession has one experienced senator and one novice. And just at a time when we get a sort of Democratic person in the white house.

When the stimulus package was being worked on, and jerkface used fear tactics to get a half-ass stimulus package passed, it was too small. But the newbie Marketer in Chief had no idea what he was doing and there was no trusted politico with enough political capital to say to the American People that it would need to be bigger. You know how Bill Clinton can explain anything and it feels safe? Even he couldn't chime in because his wife was in the Administration.

There is no trusted Senator with enough star power to be able to push the pResident to the left with the public's approval or to speak to those of us that don't trust assface to know exactly what is going to work in our favor. Or to us for that matter.

The person that could have been a benefit to all of us in the above circumstances left her position in the senate to be a diplomat on behalf of a narcissistic freak. And left millions of people who don't trust Obama to feel uncertain about the future. Hillary Clinton is doing a terrific job as SOS to be sure. But the difference she could have made for citizens here is immeasurable. We voted for her, and she left us. I have no one in government to speak up for me, and no one to speak out to us. Maybe I'll change my mind, but right now, Hillary is dead to me. I've even cried before I wrote this because something great we once had is gone and something we need is not an option. Oh, and Bill REALLY sucks, as he pushed her to take it. Obviously lost his damn mind.

The only think i can think of that makes it better is that maybe she was just bored talking about the same things for the last 33 years and wanted to finally do something for herself, instead of others.

Too busy working hard while Obama continues to campaign for President of the world, Hillary Clinton tends to be out of the spotlight. So she finally makes an appearance to explain to the American people what the hell is going on abroad and the news does whatever they can to pretend she doesn't exist, and if she does, that she sucks. And of course there was Obama making a speech about healthcare and the exact time as Hillary's speech, but what's new, the master of changing headlines cannot stand to be overshadowed by a woman.

I'm at work, and I thought her speech was at 1pm, so i turned on my phone tv, nothing there. Checked on msnbc, no word. Cnn, no word. Back to msnbc, a small update. back to cnn, an article that makes it seem like she's feeling neglected and wigging out. Call your network, tell them they're full of shit, and cancel your cable. Just my 2 cents. Don't give these assholes 1 more penny.

And no word on Hillary blogs either.

And zero word about it on the MSM. I guess Hillary really is gone after all. How truly sad. It turns out the only women that get put on the news are murdered ones or controversial limelight seekers like Sarah Palin. That's it. I give up.

But then again, Hillary is the one who scheduled it during POTUS confirmation. Which means she didn't even bother trying to speak to the American People. She is the one who stopped short on following through with the American people on what is going on now in Iran and in Honduras, after it was SHE who helped put together the mediation between Zaleya and the other dude.

Hillary Clinton has let me down for the last time. She could have stayed senator and had her input on healthcare. She could have stayed and been able to criticize this TOTUS. But she left us all, paired up with a sinister know-nothing race card playing tool, and doesn't even bother to tell the people what is going on abroad. She let Obama take her out of any domestic shaping agenda. She cannot stick up for people in the United States. I couldn't be more dissapointed. The American people have been abandoned, people in NY are left with novices like gillibrand. Why in the heck would she be SOS anyway? It has nothing to do with her experience. Nothing. Not to mention her declining status and lessening political capital in position of SOS means leaders of foreign nations will spend more and more time with Himbo of the United States of America, and our standing in the world will be yet again measured by the clown we have for president. Multiple fail on Hillary's part.

I was stunned to see in my inbox, on Independence day no less, an email from Barack Obama via the DNC. Geez, how did you get my email address? Goodness knows I never signed up for it. And last year when the white house procured my email from Hillary Clinton's list I unsubscribed. Now they've got it again. That is spamming. And last I checked it's illegal. Anyone know the law on this? He's probably done it *just* within the letter of the law knowing him. I know the CAN-Spam Act applies to "commercial" organizations, but this of course, is not commercial. But even if it's not illegal, it's certainly unethical. He's probably just using all the acquired lists from scratch, even though they know many have unsubscribed. And even though the email was about Obama giving us some crap about Independence Day, I'd say it's a lot more along the lines of narrowing down a huge list they're building because they are about to start asking for people to back them on healthcare, they're going to try put the pressure on congress to pass it.This is Obama's MOVEMENT. But guess what, I didn't sign up for it, and I shouldn't be spammed by the President of the United States so he can pass his agenda. I can only imagine the propaganda that will end up in people's inboxes. This is not to say I'm against the healthcare plan, but he certainly will be sending propaganda. And he'll be sending it to you even after you ask that he not contact you.
***TAKE ACTION**** If you received that email, and had previously unsubscribed to Obama's lists, don't unsub as yet, DO NOT DELETE IT - forward it to news outlets. Let them know how you think he obtained it and that you had already asked to be removed. Let others know, they may have received it as well and then we can figure out where he's getting them from. After American Apparel was found to have 1,800! illegal residents working for them, displacing 1,800 American citizens, team Obama writes a letter asking them to please lay them off in 60 days or they will be fined. A similar letter was sent to 652 companies. Ooh, tough. Now, I can see why a man who steals elections and who has family members living here illegally, receiving government funded housing paid for by American workers would be highly sympathetic to the plight of the illegal residents, without of course, being concerned with the tens of thousands American citizens who will be displaced for as long as said workers remain employed... but the question is, who will hold the administration accountable for this? The Democrats will not, the Republican are too busy fighting Obama's race to enact as many large pieces of legislation possible while he has the congress to do it, and tax paying American citizens are too in love with the Oholy Obama-alla to let him know they would prefer to work those jobs themselves. *sigh*. Good luck America, you get what you vote for. Hey, wait a minute, i get what you vote for as well. Fuck.

Why the undemocratic "Democratic" primaries must change...

This past week Democrats (who supported Obama in the Primary) got together to discuss "reforming" the primaries to be more....well, not sure, because they seem to have missed one major issue...Democracy. One person, One vote. But instead of reforming the primaries, they decided to Fix them.

Here's a quick review of what are the major problems are with the Democratic Primaries and how a candidate can win by more than 20,000 - 400,000 votes but receive 4% fewer delegates. Hmmm.

1. Caucuses.
a. In a caucus you show up at a certain time, on one specific date, you stand up for hours and you raise your hand in front of your neighbors and tell them for whom you are voting. Ouch. So imagine it took you 2 hours to vote and you had to be in an airless, windowless school basement. Imagine you have a child and can't afford or don't have a babysitter, imagine you want your vote to be private, or that you work during the designated time of the 2+ hour caucus. Well, you're less likely to make it than you are if there is a primary. So much so that in a state that caucuses approximately 2-10% people participate vs. 20-40%% of persons able to vote in a primary. And this may very well put more of a burden on women than men, thus being more likely to be more to disenfranchise more women than men (although such disenfranchisement in general should be unacceptable).
b. And they are also, of course, also ripe for fraud.

2. Disproportionate Delegate distribution.
a. Late states are given more delegates as a reward. Ok, that's not terrible.
b. Urban districts are allotted more delegates per population, not sure why. Anyone know? If so, please leave in the comments. This is how a person can lose the vote in a state, and still win more delegates, ummm...wtf????

So that is how one person can win 18 million plus votes, while another candidate earns 17 million something, and the person with the fewer votes "wins".

Oh, and for those of you that weren't taking note of every vote during the primary, here's the reality. Even if you give Obama 90% of the uncommitted vote in Michigan, (214,351), the end result would be this

HRC: 18,693,131 (50.7%), BHO: 18,226,023 (49.3%).

Gosh that sounds familiar, doesn't it? Ah yes, another stolen election. That's 3 presidential elections in a row, yeah, not over it.

As for the reform, a friend was at the meeting, which was open to the public (following meetings will not be), Democrats expressed the desire to get rid of the super delegates (ok. ???) but keep both the caucuses and disproportionate delegate distribution.

***TAKE ACTION**** Seriously, if you don't like what happened, do something about it. So what can we do? Let's start here. I have listed contact info of 6 groups that should share your concern. I emailed these groups and asked them if they would contact the Dem Party regarding the caucuses:

League of Women Voters ('Making Democracy Work')

Center for the advancement of Women

Legal Voice ('Women's Rights, Nothing Less')
Emily's List
Women Count Pac

So whether you live in a caucus state or primary state, please write to them and ask them to have your back, ask them to contact the DNC on your behalf and on behalf of all the women of voting age.

Why?

That's why.

And you better work fast, because when Democratic Change Committee chairs met this past week they made it clear they wanted to change things to result in less democracy in the primary (and therefore, essentially less democracy in the presidential race) so that the party chairs can have more influence over your election. And we can see that they are happy to override the will of the people to get a cash-cow, know-nothing, affirmative action, novice president in the white house. Lucky us. And the Democratic Party's next Committee Change meetings are October 24 and December 5. Unlike the most recent one, these will not be open to the public.

(Oh, and the chair of the CHANGE COMMITTEE is James 'hillary and bill and their supporters are racists' Clyburn, any chance he will change the fact that urban votes count more the that of other voters? Not likely).

Might as well write your congress person too. How to find your congressman

Here's the brief email I wrote to my congress woman, my 2 state senators, the national democratic party and the NY democratic party (do yourself a favor and put all your peeps emails in a group so it'll be easier to email them later, it's going to be a long 3 years.):

"Hi. I live in [zip code] and am concerned already about the Presidential election in 2012. Last year I learned that some districts receive more delegates for the same amount of votes than other districts and I watched my preferred candidate receive the majority of the votes while earning 4% fewer delegates. Even if my district counts for more, this is clearly anti-democratic. From what I understand the democratic party met last weekend to discuss primary reform and did not address this issue. I understand the chair of that Committee was James 'The Clintons are racist' Clyburn, so clearly there's no getting through to him, I am frustrated and would like to change things to be more democratic. Is there anything you can do about this? who should i contact?

Thanks so much."

"We believe that the Democratic Party’s nominating process is unfair and undemocratic. We must change the policy where some votes are more important than others and some areas receive more delegates than their number of voters would justify – it violates the spirit of “one person, one vote.” We must eliminate caucuses that are inherently undemocratic and disenfranchise seniors (no absentee voting for those who can’t go to the polls), shift workers and our military. Forcing people to declare their preference in public also violates another cherished principle that undermines our democracy."

States with Caucuses: AK, CO, ID, KS, MN, NM, ND, NE, WA, IA, ME, HI, WY. If you belong to any of these states, write to your state chapter of N.O.W. and ask them to contact the DNC to eliminate the caucuses.

Last year I told you to be afraid, because Roberto Cavalli would be the fall designer for H&M. But now I am warning you for real. If you think that you will go to H&M for this years fall designer and emerge unscathed, you are sadly mistaken (not to mention all the poor little shoes that will get trampled). This years fall H&M designer will be the Jimmy Choo label and just the first 2 pics have me contemplating risking life and limb. It's going to be ugly. Last year I waited in line for the Roberto Cavalli collection for hours. 4 hours to be exact, and i can tell you I've never experienced anything like it. The clothes sold out in under 10 minutes, and at one point, about 40 seconds after having entered the store, I found myself in shock. I was standing still and found myself wondering where I was and how I got there. No, I'm not kidding. I turned around to try figure it out and the racks were bare. I found my friend a few feet away in a state of disbelief. It was bizarre. But clothes are easy to grab, hang on to and shop with, but shoes?...oh, it's going to be bad - very very bad. And to add injury to injury, H&M decided to do it on a Saturday instead of the usual Thursday. Now, usually I would welcome a challenge, but I'm actually thinking of skipping this altogether. Damn, I wish I could write a happier write up announcing the designer, lol, but it is what it is.

And yes, Jimmy Choo only does accessories, so it will be interesting to see how H&M handles this, especially since their leather accessories are already fiercely overpriced and lacking in quality.

Update: Only a few deets have emerged so far. November 14, 200 stores, prices range from $59 for flats to $300 for a pair of boots. And there will be clothing designed to accessories the shoes. ;)

CNN Commentary: Obama absent on gay rights

"Last week Gov. John Lynch signed a bill making New Hampshire the sixth state to legalize same-sex marriage.

It was a paradoxical moment. The new law is a reminder that same-sex marriage is the civil rights issue of our era and just how far the movement for marriage equality has come. It also highlighted the unexpected and remarkable silence from the White House on this issue.

During the campaign, Barack Obama assured gays and lesbians that he supported repealing "don't ask, don't tell" as well as adoption and anti-discrimination rights for the gay community. Those kinds of promises carry a particular weight when made by a man whose very capacity to run for elected office is the yield of another civil rights struggle.

That lineage and the high expectations that come with it gave Obama an amazing degree of latitude, allowing him, for instance, to remain relatively unscathed even when he placed the Rev. Rick Warren on the Inauguration Day program.

But to date he has taken no significant action on this front and, more critically, his administration is actually being outpaced by state legislatures around the country.

Granted Obama has been in office for just 4½ months, but given the developments in Iowa, California and New Hampshire, they have been among the most significant months in the struggle for marriage equality.

The administration likely wishes to avoid the culture war debacle of Bill Clinton's early presidency. But gay rights are a national issue in a way they weren't in 1993. Thus the clouds of disappointment we already see gathering.

We long ago overdosed on comparisons of Obama and previous presidents, but it's hard to miss the way his administration had begun to echo that of John F. Kennedy. And not in a good way.

During the 1960 campaign, Kennedy ran as a forward-looking Democrat who understood the necessity of civil rights. He promised an executive order banning housing discrimination. Gestures like his phone call to a pregnant Coretta Scott King while her husband languished in an Albany jail and Robert Kennedy's judicial arm-twisting to secure his release endeared the young candidate to millions of African-Americans.

But once in office, Kennedy made civil rights a low priority. By 1962, Martin Luther King was openly critical of Kennedy and bitterly observed that the movement activists had become "pawns in a white man's game." It is worth recalling that the 1963 March on Washington was organized not only to ensure passage of a civil rights bill, but also to ensure that Kennedy would not cave to Southern Democrats on the issue.

In retrospect, Kennedy's reputation as a supporter of civil rights was greatly exaggerated. On one occasion, Atlanta Mayor William Hartsfield invoked Kennedy's name -- without his knowledge or approval -- as the reason local politicians were "forced" to release Martin Luther King from prison.

The plan was to direct the anger of Southern whites at Kennedy rather than the local officeholders who wanted King out of jail, but one side-effect was to raise Kennedy's standing among black voters. In reality, though, as both candidate and president, Kennedy was consistently behind the curve of history.

It is far too early to make such assessments of President Obama, but there is a disturbing parallel. He has carefully outlined support for civil unions and his opposition to a Constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.

But as a former law professor, Obama certainly knows -- and the language of the recent California ruling makes frighteningly clear -- the logic of civil unions is essentially the logic of "separate but equal." On the surface, civil unions are a politically safe middle ground, an attempt to highlight the artificial divide between secular unions and the religious rite of marriage. We allow atheists to marry and we do not refer to a wedding performed by a secular judge or justice of the peace as a "civil union."

The president would do well to define this moment by taking immediate action to repeal "don't ask, don't tell" or ensure adoption rights for homosexual, bisexual and transgender families. Kennedy believed that promoting civil rights would jeopardize other aspects of his domestic agenda during a national crisis. Barack Obama has a broader set of crises to resolve than any president in modern history, but that is not a rationale for inaction on this issue.

Ultimately, the gay rights movement will have to learn something that the civil rights movement learned again and again during the 20th century -- it is often necessary to force the hand of even your allies to achieve your goals."

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly...and the Awesome - By a former Blackberry Curve user, and once unfortunate owner of an HTC Diamond Touch (shudder).

The Good...

Adorable little phone.
Gorgeous screen, smooth o/s, everything good about a touch screen you could ever want.
Wow, run several apps at one time! You don't know how handy this is until you have the option. Let's say you're talking on the phone with someone, they want the date or addy of the function, just minimize them, bring up your calendar and go back to them while never closing your phone screen.
The 3mp camera (with LED flash) is great. And of course, you can have it open and your album photos open at the same time and switch back and forth. Oh yeah, let's say you're at a party and you want to have your camera ready, no need to keep opening and closing the camera application, just leave it open, and you're free to do other things with it still open. Having mult apps open at the same time, laid out next to each other is so handy you can't believe it.
SPRINT SERVICE IN NYC! is excellent. So next time your friend or coworker opens his/her mouth and says "sprint sux", they don't know what they're talking about, they're just parroting something they heard years ago. Sprint in Manhattan beats AT&T hands down. And their customer service is the bomb, yes, that's right, the bomb. At least for me it is. And their plans are about 30% less than AT&T's and Verizon. For example, Sprint's basic everything plan is $69.99 and for that you get 450 daytime mins, nighttime minutes start at 7pm, unlimited internet, texting, gps, etc. AT&T's comparative iPhone plan is $100/mo. Ouch.

I really like my touchstone, keeps me from bending over, opening the micro usb door, plugging in the charger etc. Except it's crazy overprice. Ay yi yi. But the price of that will come down soon for sure.

The Bad

8 gb of memory. Now, many people already know why this is way too small, and I never thought that would be me, but when I went to sync my music (after I found out the Pre is recongnized by iTunes as an iPOD! :D) I realized I had way too much music to fit onto the Pre, and I was hard pressed to figure out what to leave out. :(. Still working on that.
The phone was released before they could finish it. Seriously. You can't imagine how many things are missing from the basic programs like Tasks, memo's, etc. Heck, the phone didn't even have a clock application when they first released it! lol. They had to have an update ready on the day it came out, and the clock app STILL sux! lol. It doesn't even know the difference between a weekday and a weekend. It's kind of funny.

The Ugly

The way this thing cuts and pastes, you'll never want to do it. And that really sucks. Cutting and pasting on my blackberry was the bomb. :P
Sound quality is only 'acceptable' through the natural earpiece. That was my biggest disappointment. Some of us still want to use our phones as phones. I know the iPhone call quality leaves quite a bit to be desired, and that's one of the reasons I kept from switching (the other being AT&T service in Manhattan and the $100/mo basic iPhone plan, blech). But with the included headphones, the sound quality is fantastic. ...update...seems fine now, maybe it was the software update they released mid June.
Finding preferences on this thing is a b*tch.

And the freakin' awesome.

No need to plug a phone in for software updates! Just hit the 'update' application button, and it downloads updates wirelessly. Nice. Very nice.
The camera! Anyone with an iPhone will tell you waiting for the camera on that thing to be able to take a picture is a nightmare, as is the crappy camera quality and lack of flash. Well, this thing not only has a nice camera but there is only 1-2 seconds between being able to take the next picture! It's amazing. It's faster than my stupid Canon digital Elph. The reason it is able to do that is that the photos are processed in the background so you can move on to take your next photo. Awesome.
Being able to have several applications open is the freakin' bomb. It makes other phones look down right clunky *cough*iPhone*cough*. Oh yeah, and this includes the phone as an app too. So you can talk on the phone while running your other applications. Perfect example, i called Time Warner and schedule a technition and while i had her on speaker phone and wrote down the time/date in the calender, and the confirmation number in the notes. :D. Remember scrambling for pens and paper only to find some note days later, have no idea what the scribble mean, and throw it out? Yeah, that's over.
Lose your phone? Arrrgh, all your phone numbers! Not with the Pre, it backs itself up every night to some profile somewhere, so if you lose your pre and a get a new pre, and all your numbers and data will come right back to you. : )! In fact, if you lose your phone, you can remote wipe the data. :D. Then get it all back when you get your new phone.

There are many other good, bads, and uglys (awesomes too) but 1., I'm going to keep it short. And 2, I am a moderate smart phone user. I don't tether, do spreadsheets on my phone, use secure work email whatevers, or need 100 "light my fart" apps (although I do look forward to the 1,000's of apps that are soon to be available), so for a user like me, this is a great phone with an awesome freakin' operating system.

Verdict: Fierce. Nice Going Palm, congrats.

I can't believe people actually voted for this asshole. Recognize this MO? Making sure you're the only person on the ballot so you have to win? Even CNN ran an Obama special in which they spent a large portion describing how he removed his opponents from the ballot to insure his win. Puma's, Hillary Supporters and other democrats with their eyes wide open painfully witnessed a similar maneuver during the democratic national convention where Sen. Clinton was asked not to be put in for nomination, and when she eventually was, her delegates were instructed to vote for Obama at the convention. *shudder*. Now it seems Gillibrand has become Obama's latest attempt to circumvent democracy. The President of the United States of America is imposing his "no drama" policies to NY State Elections and has requested of Gillibrand's strongest opponent, Steve Isreal, that he drop out of the race. lovely.

I know this news is bitter-sweet for some. It was quite a relief to many of us that Obama was unable to install Kennedy as our senator, and some were happy to see it was a woman given the job, but we've been through this before, do we really want to condone and indulge this type of anti-democratic behavior from Obama? Carolyn, a great poster at a foreign policy website, posted about an interesting error in a NYT article about a meeting they wrote about. Let's take a look at how the NYT minimizes her:

omg, lmao. The other day I read some great comments by Hillary Clinton while she was in Korea. She talked about her great working relationship with Barack Obama and how they were friends as well. And it really made me cut him some slack. I exhaled and thought, cool, maybe he's not 100% sinister, maybe only 60%. I figured like I do often, that I'll judge him from here forward, and think positively of him. But without fail, every time I do that, then I open my Yahoo news and something either sends cursing up a storm, or into a fit of laughter. So this time my Bambi serenity lasted about 12 hours, then I open my browser to see one of the funniest PR spectacles of all time. "Official: Bambi wants to halve the budget deficit".

"Obama's proposal for the 2010 fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 projects that the estimated $1.3 trillion deficit he has inherited from former President George W. Bush will be halved to $533 billion by 2013. That's a difference of 9.2 percent of the overall economy now vs. 3 percent in four years."

"He's expected to outline some broad themes of his budget request Monday at a White House summit on fiscal policy and touch on it during his first speech to Congress on Tuesday evening. He is slated to officially send at least a summary of it to Congress on Thursday, barely a week after his $787 billion economic stimulus plan becoming law."

Oh please don't let anyone buy this. Ok, i know it is not 0's fault re: the stimulus, it HAD to be done, (not to mention the bank bailout and homeowner plan) but he releases this statement after the stimulus has been approved and 'tax-and-spend liberal' grumblings start to make rounds. Maybe this statement is to pretend somehow that he is not increasing our debt? This man is hilarious. You can only have it one way dude. A 500 Million Dollar deficit in the Budget 4 years from now? lol. That's what your touting?

'Dear People, in 4 years there'll be a huge deficit in the budget, but it will be half the deficit we had while there was a war going on. THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO!'

I guess he was a little embarrassed when Bill Clinton made rounds on TV trying to sell bambi's stimulus, told 0 to be more positive, then slipped in that he balanced the budget. Dear obama, just do it and stfu. We're still going to owe trillions and trillions to the chinese, promising us a half a trillion dollar deficit in 4 years by saying "halving the deficit in 4 years" is not awesome. Thanks.

Us Lowly Turn-Tail American Cowards...

In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives. A point that could easily have been made without calling us a "Nation of Cowards", but it's just par for the course when we are dealing with Obama and his persons of choice.

"Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards". (Got that? we're not just cowards, we THOUGHT of ourselves as an ethnic melting pot, i guess we haven't been. Thanks goodness we have Holder to set us straight).

Yet again Team Obama has let us know what let downs we the American people are to them. Even though we are the probably the most integrated country in the world and without much strife between races. Yes, of course we can always do better.

Holder continued, Race "is an issue we have never been at ease with and, given our nation's history, this is in some ways understandable,"..."If we are to make progress in this area, we must feel comfortable enough with one another and tolerant enough of each...If we're going to ever make progress, we're going to have to have the courage and the determination, to be open and discuss matters of race".

Holder makes quite a few good points, and the importance of open conversation about race was one of the reason's I was so glad Obama was running for president, even though I thought he was an unqualified [explicative redacted]. Perhaps Mr. Holder and the Obama administration would like to set an example of open communication by cutting out the name-calling.

But even as Obama ran for office, and even after he gave his MAJOR SPEECH ON RACE (ooh, tingly!), people who spoke about race, or even opposed Obama, were subjected to a constant barrage of verbal assaults. Geraldine Ferraro anyone? In fact, where was Mr. Holder when Sarah Palin was determined to be using racism when she bravely noted (for which I will always be thankful) that Mr. Obama 'pals around with terrorists'. Maybe it isn't just our nations history that makes us feel uncomfortable, maybe it's the insults to anyone who mentions race, or speaks about another who is a racial minority (or supports a candidate who runs against a person of a racial minority, anyone, anyone?).

Of course a kindergarten teacher could tell you tolerance and open conversation are much better had when you withhold judgment and put downs, but this seems to elude Holden, and has very much eluded Mr. Obama. Which leads me to another disturbing trend observed of Team Obama. Ever since Obama's campaign began I have heard over a dozen put-downs of the American people from Obama himself, his wife, and others on his behalf (shall we take a walk down unity lane?). We know behind closed doors in San Francisco he called people in small towns "bitter" gun-clingers. Not so surprisingly similar to Holden addressing his staff as he calls Americans cowards. But it's not *just* the people Obama chooses to be around that have a penchant for putting people down (rev. wright, etc) but it seems to be a trend that Obama's effect on people and their outlook. Days after it was leaked that Judas, aka, Bill Richardson, was leaning toward endorsing Senator Clinton, he spent some time speaking to David Axelrod and Barack Obama, and soon thereafter he made an appearance on CNN saying that Hillary "just wants to be a queen on her throne". And how can we forget Obama's advisor Samantha Power calling then Sen. Clinton a monster then repeating Obama's campaign manager's favorite talking point, that Hillary would do anything to win. What goes on behind closed doors with team Obama? What really is their opinion of us who they are supposed to protect and stand up for?

"If we're going to ever make progress, ...we have to have the determination, to be honest with each other. It also means we have to be able to accept criticism where that is justified," Yet another bit of advice Mr. [explicative redacted] might want to give to B. Obama.

I am sooooo tired of being judged and named called by Obama and his cohorts, and I'm becoming increasingly frustrated that they get away with this. Why oh why did I think things would change after the primary. It's my stupid penchant for hope keeps getting in the way of the reality of Obama and his administration. Perhaps I would be better off turning into the "cynic" Obama said as recently as September, that "Americans are". *slump*. If this is the kind of hope that's making a comeback, I'll pass.

What $1,500-$2,000 buys you for better skin....

And now back to our regularly scheduled program - very superficial things. : )

Call it an experiment, but it was more like deciding to finally do something about my skin complaints by going to a derm and getting a retinoid, then I ended up going to the hilt. It all started because I've worked for cosmetic companies for years so I was constantly reading and writing about achieving better skin, etc, that and my current job has the most g-d-awful mirror, so maybe I just freaked out. Or Maybe I was just bored, but either way, I actually started with youthful skin for someone in her mid-30's, but was still bugged by a number of things so I researched skin products and solutions and this is what I chose to do:

Common skin problems:
Typical skin "problems" we try to improve are large, extended or "open" pores, fine or deep lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation (visible sun damage/brown spots) and acne. I had/have all but the deep lines and acne,

Here's what $1,500 (and a good bit of research and dedication) got me (and what it can do for you).

-I started with a trip to the dermatologist, $20 co-pay: She noted raised bumps/clogged pores on my forehead as well as my other complaints (see above) and prescribed Tazorac (a retinoid similar to but stronger than, Retin-A). She gave me several samples that will last me months, otherwise a 30g tube costs about $100. Can be bought online for about $70. Pssst, there's a generic you can get without a prescription. It's almost as strong, so if you are interested in this drug but don't have a derm, here's an option.

-A facial at The Skin Spa with extractions and a peel (*highly recommend) (they chose a beta-peel for me) to unclog the skin and give it a head start: $100-$150. (I just did mine week 4, but it probably would have been helpful to do one earlier). Most spas will have add-on specials, maybe a free or reduced cost peel.

-A Clarisonic cleansing brush (week 6) to keep skin as free from impurities as a cleansing can give. $200. Ouch. 20% off and 12% back if you buy in on SkincareRx through Mr. Rebates, makes it about $150. Seems to make a difference for most people. I just bought this on week 6.

-Laser Genesis. I got a 6 session package for a mere $600 at The Skin Spa in NYC, typically a single treatment is about $200-$300. Still not sure if it's worth the money, in fact, I'm not sure exactly what it does. lol. Something about fine lines and sun damage. 2 sessions so far.

-A quality sunblock (*a must have) to keep newly chemically and manually exfoliated skin protected from harmful UVA rays. Formerly only available in Europe, La Roche-Posay 'Anthelios with Mexoryl SPF 15 or 40' is a stable formula with excellent UVA protection. $30 each. Anthelios SPF 15 is a little easier to wear, but is still only a 15. I use both depending on what I feel like doing that day, sometimes I mix them. Both available at CVS and several online stores. I also use Peter Thomas Roth powder SPF 30 in a brush to touch up before lunch. $30. (I'm neurotic about sun avoidance).

-Effective anti-oxidants (*highly recommend) to wear under SPF to increase sun protection. I haven't bought Skinceuticals 'Phloretin CF' yet, but it seems like the right choice for my combination skin and I'll pick it up soon (but I can't remember why I wanted 2 anti-oxidants in the first place). If you are dry, try CE Ferulic by 'Skinceuticals'. Studies show vitamins C & E, particularly in combination, to be the most effective topical anti-oxidants, and the addition of Ferulic Acid is proven to be an effective booster to the combination, and this is the only product on the market with all 3. Another fantastic C&E product is 'C Complex' by SkinMedica, ($80) which is what I got to wear daily under my SPF. It is a VERY stable C&E product, but it doesn't have the Ferulic. Decisions, decisions. *sigh*. $80-$150 for each product listed above. Ouch. 20% off and 12% Cashback at skincareRx with Mr. Rebates. That helps quite a bit.

-I also added what is called a 'Growth Factor'. According to one website: "Growth factors play a role in cell division, new cell and blood vessel growth, and collagen and elastin production and distribution. They have been used extensively in the medical industry for treating wounds, as topical application of growth factors has been shown to facilitate faster and more complete healing. Likewise, the use of growth factors for aging skin has been shown to positively counteract aging and photodamage, specifically loss of elasticity, uneven skin tone, and thinning of the epidermis." I chose Steven Victor's 'Growth Factor Serum' after recommended to me by a friend whose skin randomly started to look more beautiful, before then I had never heard of a Growth Factor Serum. They run about $150. SV's GFS is available on shopnbc.com for $60, great deal. Plus get 15% off and $6 back by going through Mr. Rebates.

-Vitamin D supplement, (*necessary if you plan on avoiding the sun's rays). After doing a bit of research my advice would be, make sure the supplement says Vitamin D3 or Cholecalciferol. $7 for a 3-month supply. While you're in your vitamin shop (one a day grocery store vitamins are not going to help you), get yourself a real multi-vitamin, like Nature's Way Alive Whole Food Energizer, buy yourself separate Calcium Chelate supplements and Natrol Omega-3 fish oils lemon flavor, your bones, skin, energy level and hair will thank you. $40. 8% back on Vitaminshoppe.com with Mr. Rebates.

So what does $1,500+ actually buy you? I have taken a computer analysis of my skin a few weeks after I started and up to the present using a machine owned by SKII, select Lancome counters have a similar one. In less than 2 months (maximum results of retinoids and laser genesis are achieved after 6-9 months) I have seen quite a bit of improvement.

THESE ARE MY RESULTS AT THE 6 WEEK MARK,
with comparisons week 2 vs. week 5.
I WILL UPDATE EVERY 2 WEEKS.

A 12% reduction in 'brown spots' (old blemish marks, sun damage, freckles = a more even tone).
25% fewer or smaller visible open pores. My pores used to be worse than 98% of people in my category using the machine, and now 85%. It's still bad, but greatly improved, there is no cure for this condition.

Below is a picture and the measurement of my visible or open pores count, 1/19/09 vs. 2/10/09.
Some things got worse:

My UV damage is measurably greater. This is astounding. While it is a given that Retinoids make skin more susceptible to sun damage I have been meticulous about UVA ray avoidance, protection and antioxidant repair. No one could be any more careful than I, so what gives? I don't know.

It is visibly obvious that my skin is slightly improved, at least on the outside. Was it worth $1,500 and over 15 hours going to the derm and getting laser treatments and facials, plus the hours of research and shopping? Not yet, too soon to tell, but some things, for sure. Would I do it all again in 3 years. Probably not. And hopefully I haven't done anything that will make my skin age worse, but apparently it only benefits you for the future, we'll see. In the future I will skip the laser treatments and buy myself a new Louis Vuitton, but will stick with the retinoid (Tazorac in my case), antioxidants, SPF, vitamin D supplements and a couple of facials a year. With cleansers, etc, that should run about $700+/year. Ouch. Oh the price we pay for beauty.

*Would I recommend such a drastic mission to others? Some of it, for sure, the rest, dunno. If your skin bothers you every day, definitely. If you have major discoloration from blemishes, for sure. If you have lost a substantial amount of elasticity and collagen and your discoloration is too much for concealer, or If you have the money and are bored and have a perfection complex, Sure. If you just wish your skin were better than your your genes have given you, ummmm. Maybe just skip either the retinoid OR the laser, both might be overkill if you are not obsessive. Speaking of which, oh man, I could have totally had an LV Steven Sprouse Pink Graffiti Speedy, damn that mirror!

My skincare routine for my combination, easily congested skin:
-Oil Cleanser followed by a regular (water-based) cleanser (for me it's Sekkisei 'Perfect Oil Cleanser' and 'Purity Made Simple' by Philosophy). Total: $50
-Physical Exfoliant in the evening, 2x/week, only on days I don't use Tazorac (for me, Ice Crystals by Freeze 24/7, it gets excellent reviews, $60).
-A moisturizing or exfoliating toner 2x a day.
-Antioxidant serum followed by a cream spf and powder spf in the AM.
-Whatever serums in the PM.
-Other products include Stridex Alcohol-free 2% beta-hydroxy pads to help dissolve congestion. $7.
I always save money buy buying my more expensive products online with codes and cashback. Mr. Rebates is my favorite, you could probably save about $100+ using it for a total skincare overhaul. Actually, in writing this post i realize most of my products are available on skincareRx, i just bought them piecemeal here and there, but with 20% off and 12% cashback, that might be the way to go for the Skinceuticals stuff, Skinmedica, Clarisonic and the SPF. If i had known all my products ahead of time, I would have done it that way and saved $180 just on those things.

I just about got chills when Hillary Clinton spoke those words on the DNC floor. And to top it off, how great was it that she upstaged Obama on black plight by speaking chillingly and mesmerizingly of some of the darkest times in the african american experience, before Obama even got a chance to speak. Hillary the racist attributed the quote to Harriet Tubman, but it turns out Tubman's quote was more like this:

Mr. Cool togetherness had a great idea (for a photo op/press release). Have a bi-partisan superbowl party and invite people from both political parties! Ah, but look a little closer. It seems that only democrats who endorsed him are welcome.

Here is the the guest list that CNN gave us (without the endorsements, I added those). I glanced at it after someone on a makeup site posted how great it was that he was doing this, and I thought, Hey! that IS a good idea, I like it. Then I looked at the list a little closer, and whattya know. 15 people. Every single democratic guest endorsed Obama in the primary. What are the odds.

But I just checked in with them again and realized they were still current but had changed their first page without changing it to the home page. And the first post I find is this one. In this segment from National Geographic's upcoming TV series "On Board Air Force One," President Obama boards his first flight on Air Force One--from Chicago to Washington, D.C., when he was still president-elect. He greets the pilot and says "You're the pilot of Air Force One? I've got to say, you're out of central casting. You're exactly what I want the pilot of Air Force One to look like. He's then offered his first Air Force One meal. After a quick glance at the menu, Obama says he wants "to see how you guys do a burger," cooked medium-well, with cheddar cheese, dijon mustard (Grey Poupon--which he also likes in his tuna salad--will do), with lettuce and tomato. He also requests some salad or vegetables. When the waiter asks, "No fries?" He replies, "Oh, I'll still take the fries."

Sorry Mr. Poupon, Bill Clinton hereby retains the title of first black president.

True to form, Obama has no problem with people who have committed the unrelenting vitriol against Senator Clinton, as long as they supported him and will in the future and even goes so far as to reward them. wow, just wow. Every time I am ready to forgive and move on, and I mean EVERY TIME, 0 shows exactly why I feel so strongly about him.

Obama decided to reward one of the biggest Clinton antagonists with a invitation to meet with him. Surely anyone he would meet with from the press could fit that description but it's most apt a description of Maureen Dowd except for the word "press". She is an pop culture opinion columnist who broke records for the number of seething columns against Hillary Clinton while at times salivating over Barack Obama. Her reward for her Hillary hate? An invitation to meet with him.

Just in case you weren't unfortunate enough to see or hear about Dowd's Hillary columns, here are some excerpts of couple of her weekly columns...

She had to fend off calamity by playing the female victim, both of Obama and of the press. Hillary has barely talked to the press throughout her race even though the Clintons this week whined mightily that the press prefers Obama. -Dowd

Just as I am about to shed a little of my distaste for Zero to enjoy seeing no one in the white house to veto progressive legislation, he validates and condones the very behavior that made millions of women shut off their tv's and cancel their newspaper subscriptions. And it's no longer justifiable. Okay, he HAD to steal votes to win. Ok, he had to smear her as a racist to win. But does he have to reward Dowd at this point in time? That's a nope. Congratulations Senator Obama, your ability to be a complete asshole never ceases to amaze me as you once again confirm the type of person you are and president you will be, all PR and no principles.

This isn't a snark post, it's a sad one. So many of us took a long time to react pro-actively to the sexism, media bias and hate against Sen. Clinton and all women during the primary, I believe because it was so shocking, some of it unbelievable. Similar to watching the towers fall and not having believed it happened. But it did. But surely some were prepared, even if just to be able to recognize it for what it was, and they would be the ones front and center in the debate on sexism. But those who we might have suspected to speak up for us never showed up. N.O.W., The Feminist Majority, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein. Absent then and absent now. Instead what emerged were a few we didn't expect. Greta Van Susteran (read her latest and right on rant here), Hillary Voters, Women Count Pac, Geraldine Ferraro and a handful of others who did not choose to lick Obama's ass before he's proven himself. Only they spoke out against the sexism then and now perpetrated by the Media, Barack Obama and Obama supporters. The saddest part of all, this new feminist brigade are sneered at and looked down upon as bitter lunatics and those that struggled to gain acceptance have turned their back on women. No mention from the former so-called feminist groups about Hillary Clinton receiving more votes in any primary in history, about her never giving up and fighting against it all. And not even a mention of Obama's new semi-pro-life chair of the DNC. Feminism is not just dead, it's being murdered. The groups that couldn't be bothered to recognize the dismissal of women, and if they did, were certainly too scared to speak out, now stand behind the man, paint him as their saving grace and tell young women that this is their new hero.

Case in point. Ms. Magazine, owned by the Feminist Majority, recently put together a special edition Inaugural issue with Barack Obama as superman (SUPERMAN!) opening his shirt to reveal he is not just ANY superhero, but that he is a feminist super hero who is going to save us little women. Oh thank goodness! Save us! No matter how you treat us, we'll come grovelling back to you!

So now we have to go back in time to remember what a feminist looks like.

Apparently Ms. wants us to know that a feminist referrers to a sitting Governor as a "mayor of a small town". And a feminist brushes off their shoulders in response to getting their ass kicked in a debate by a woman.

Does a feminist fight to keep a millions women's votes from counting? Perhaps Ms. Readers and other people who catch the cover will think one does.

I am saddened today after seeing that cover, maybe even more than I was saddened by N.O.W. choosing to endorse Obama/Biden as their first all-male ticket endorsement.

And then there were none.

A quick read from the NYT, December 2007:
"It's that experience, that understanding, not just of what world leaders I went and talked to in the ambassadors house I had tea with, but understanding the lives of the people" Barack Obama referencing Senator Clinton's trips abroad.

Later on, the Clinton campaign released a statement from Madeleine Albright, the former secretary of state who is supporting Senator Clinton. She wrote: “Senator Clinton has been in refugee camps, clinics, orphanages, and villages all around the world, including places where tea is not the usual drink.”

Mr. Obama scoffed at the response, of course, and said he was not referring to Mrs. Clinton’s gender when he made the comment. “Those folks must really be on edge,” he said, smiling.

And I wrote to a state NOW chapter and told them how upset I was, she said that she was too. So i kept writing. I wrote to 32 state chapters and a number of state chapter Presidents wrote back. They were also very unhappy to see such a cover. Responses included:

The New York (camelrot ass-licking) Times reports that during a New Year's Day open house at the executive mansion, Paterson said "It ain't nothin' till I calls it." The quote recalls a statement once made by legendary baseball umpire Bill Klem.

Meantime, despite early reservations, New York state's most powerful legislative leader tells the New York Post he'll support Kennedy. State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver says he'll work for her election.

Paterson has sole authority to name a replacement for the next two years. Under state law, there would be an election to fill the last two years in 2010.

What on earth could have happened? Surely he was probably promised a great deal of money by Reid/Pelosi/Kennedy/Bloomberg for his re-election, or even more likely, promised to keep his seat. Poor guy, giving up on us NY'ers. Scamalot politics strikes again.

Eager to continue the obamacamalot theme this year we've got Caroline Kennedy asking for Hillary Clinton's senate seat. Like Obama she's got Star Power, but a minor role. and like Obama, her seat is often empty.

She was also instrumental in getting 20,000 lipsticks donated to the sale. I work in cosmetics, and I can tell you just how hard it is to get rid of the 10's of thousands of discontinued lipsticks we have in our storage rooms. ok, maybe I'm being a B it could just be the fear talking. But viola! Just after I finished writing this I was so glad to see, it's just not going to happen for Caroline (or to us) after all. Her backers were so great at pushing the inevitability theme we've come to know so well with team Obama, that it backfired and Paterson had to make it clear that he's not having it.

Only in an Obamanation do the terrorists make media rounds blaming the media and upstanding statesmen for their name being dragged through the mud, as well as speak in front of riveted crowds while the upstanding statesmen are still being dumped on by Obama's adoring fans (which of course, includes the media).

Ayers is offended that people equate his acts with terrorism. "We did something that was extreme. Some of you would call it not only extreme but kind of nuts. You might call it off the track. You might call it crazy. You might call it defying of common sense. It was certainly illegal. To call it terrorism stretches the definition of terrorism to everything you don't approve of." Wasn't it so very odd to see the National Organization for Women endorse the Obama/Biden ticket since they have never in their history endorsed an all-male presidential ticket before. It was especially surprising given that Obama reaped the rewards of a clearly sexist if not misogynist primary election. Hmmm.

I wrote them a brief email that ended in "piss off." and they actually responded asking me why I felt like I did, I explained my beef with their endorsement and also their notable absense during the campaign. This time they didn't respond. Makes sense, what could you possibly say to that. Reminds me of an even stranger endorsement - NARAL's endorsement of Obama over Hillary 3 weeks before the end of the primary. What the hell was that? Fortunately for Obama the endorsement came at a very convenient time - about a week after he was caught making some strange comments about women getting blue and having abortions. Local Naral chapters got an earful, while Naral National got a speaking spot at the Democratic National Convention. Well fancy that.

And now NOW is helping choose women for Obama's cabinet. Well ain't that swell. At least we know exactly how much integrity these groups have now. Thank you Sen. Obama for acting as a great compass by which we can measure integrity of those who are supposed to have our backs. Judas, Lurch, Now and 9%, out. Carville and Bill back in, Women for Fair Politics, New Agenda, in.

First unrepentant terrorist William Ayers gets a warm spotlight from New Yorker magazine with which to exonerate himself of the truth. He then expresses sympathy for Rev. Racist Wright “who was treated grotesquely and unfairly” by the media. Um, last I checked all they did was play his clips. Ayers continues to say that Martin Luther King Jr. was, in his time, far more radical than Wright: “Wright’s a wimp compared to Martin Luther King—he had a fiercer tone.”

Then Ayers decides any demonization of him is actually Hillary's fault because she brought him up. Right, surely it couldn't have been his terrorist organization, the Underground Weatherman, no surely not. Let's blame Hillary Clinton, a former first lady of AR, former U.S. first lady, 2 term Senator, champion of women's and children's rights. Yeah, that's the ticket! It's her fault! (asshole).

Then good 'ol Rev. Wright blames the media. waaaah, poor Rev. Wright, who also took swipes at Sen. Clinton during his media circus display of obnoxiousness.

Perhaps Pfleger and Rezko will grace us with their appearances next. Oh wait, Rezko's in prison guilty of 16 counts of fraud and bribery.

Another letter from a friend in the fight...

Hello,

I write to you tonight with mixed emotions... with a heavy heart and a thankful soul... with pride and sorrow.

I am thankful that I met so many wonderful and dedicated individuals. I am thankful that I stuck to my convictions and put my country first. I am thankful that I got to vote for Hillary Clinton. I am thankful that I found my voice. I am thankful for each one of you.

And so, what are the next steps for Texas Hill Country?

I will continue to write, to report and to analyze international and domestic events, to try to peel back the spin and connect the dots.

I also will continue to call on all politicians to do their duty, to put country first, to listen to what the people want.

Barack Obama is right. Now is the time for change.
The American public rejected the hard right swing that was part and parcel with the Bush Administration and, blinded by rhetoric, swung far to the left… but not the traditional Democratic left. This is a new Democratic Party.
In the wake of this election cycle, people should remember that:

It was Democrats that voted against GLBT rights in 4 states
It was Democrats that voted against two very strong and capable women
It was Democrats that attacked two very strong women with vicious sexism
It was Democrats that found the attacks on freedom of speech acceptable (truth squads)
It was Democrats that applauded unfair and unethical election practices (primaries)
It was Democrats that abandoned campaign finance reform
It was Democrats that conducted a questionable war on the sanctity of the vote (acorn, ohio)
And also that

It was evangelicals that failed to come out for the Republican Party
It was the evangelicals that turned out in higher numbers for the Democrats
No matter what the rhetoric, no matter what the politicians say, the Democratic Party has abandoned two of its’ key constituencies… women and gays. I shudder to thing what will happen when little bites begin to be taken out of Roe v Wade. I no longer have any confidence that the Democratic Party will protect women’s right to choose.
It is time for the Republican party to abandon the Neo-Conservatives. It is time for the Republicans to recapture the center and to become the party of Lincoln, Martin Luther King and Barry Goldwater once again.
It is time to remake the face of the Republican Party as the party of small government, both in business and in our daily lives.
It is time for the Republican Party to become the party of equal rights and freedoms for all.
It is time for the Republican Party to become the party that it once was. The party that fought to give African Americans the right to vote. The party that fought to give women the right to vote. The party that helped the first woman get elected to Congress. The party that fought for the individual against the crushing weight of the society and the government.
It is time for the Republican Party to abandon the path set forth by John Sears and Karl Rove and get back to its’ roots.
I am calling on the Republican Party to abandon the “Religious Right” that abandoned you.
I am calling on the Republican Party to abandon its attack on a woman’s right to choose.
I am calling on the Republican Party to abandon the attacks on the division between church and state.
I am calling on the Republican Party to abandon the injection of religion into social policy
I am calling on the Republican Party to allow people of any race, creed, color or sexual preference to associate in any way they deem appropriate… including marriage.
I am calling on the Republican Party to defend my rights as a citizen to live my life without interference from the government as long as my actions are not harming others.
I am calling on the Republican Party to stop being a RINO and start being Republican once again.

A Real Democrat's feelings...

I'm getting a ton of emails on people's reaction to what happened. Here is one from Nairoby, who is a member of the group Real Democrats, an organization that worked to expose the man behind the mask. Here is her email, and i'll post others' shortly.

I start with a heartfelt thank you to all that “hoped” we could actually “change” the course of this country as we see it slip with an Obama Presidency.Today I realize that I have been naïve in thinking that malice will never prevail. I have been duped.I am devastated today.

God knows how many times I woke up throughout the night in disbelief and cried. I am in shock.As I walked the streets of Manhattan this morning to try to make sense of what is happening I ran into a friend of mine who made me realize this country was blinder in this years elections than I thought. He said to me, “…well what happened last night was truly historic as Martin Luther King Jr said, ‘ I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character...’

As Steve spoke these words I had to clinch my jaw to prevent myself from breaking down. I can not quiet figure out what is more devastating; not being able to rejoice when the greatest country in the world has given the Presidency to an African American; an African American who has no character and used the color of his skin to intimidate and suppress the voice of this nation or the fact that the majority of this country did not read and chose to not research the candidates.

Obama is far from representing the integrity that Martin Luther King Jr. had.I was sent an email earlier today and in this email the writer said, “…I could not care less about the negative impact on young people--let the stupid kids who voted for Obama suffer. As my Mom always says, the best lessons in life are those in which we suffer”. As one of these “stupid kids” in their 20s (I voted McCain) I must apologize to this writer because she/he is correct. My generation has failed this country. My generation unfortunately will not “suffer” because my generation does not know how to take responsibility.

Ironically today after reading this email I got an invitation to a global conference call that will discuss my generation in the workplace... “Born after 1980, they’re now pouring into the work world with values, aspirations and approaches that differ markedly from those of their parents and coworkers. They’re full of energy and optimism and more tech-savvy than any other generation. They socialize and process information in whole new ways. You need them. Boomers are retiring, and who else is waiting to step into the workplace? These unique assets and strengths Gen Yers bring to the workplace…How Xers, Boomers and Generation Y differ in the workplace. ..How these generations can collaborate more effectively at work.”

I see my genereation gaining strength across this country in every aspect ...it is my greatest wish that this generation of entitlement proves me wrong and instead we take our country and show the world that we are capable of greatness.

To the McPalins I am sorry that you had to compete against 600 million dollars, but I thank you for trying.To all the women who voted for Obama yesterday after he kicked every woman in this country when they were down during the primaries and during the general election… I thank you for making me realize that I may very well live for the next 60 years never seeing a woman come to executive power because instead of standing tall with one another we sit in silence. To Pelosi, Dean, Ried, The Clintons, Superdelegates… I thank you for showing me that democracy is dead in this country.A

s I read Hugo Chavez extending his congratulations to Obama and await to see their long anticipated meeting unfold … I take a deep breath knowing that we are at the brink of entering the world of socialism.Today I am angry and disillusioned with my country and as a result I will allow myself the time needed to deal with these feelings because if I do not… I will be useless.Today I have no motivation to ever vote in this country again.One thing is certain…I will be going back to the gym and back those abs I was developing before I put myself last to fight for this country =).

What an utter dissapointment

The democratic party didn't disappointed me, I would never put faith in a party. The disappointment is with the American People.

Here they had a chance to choose a president of substance vs. one of pure rhetoric. They had a choice of a patriot, or one that has a strange following, many of whom proudly and consistantly voice anti-american rhetoric. Women chose to not stand up to a party that holds them hostage with Roe V. Wade, and even more disappointing, so many took place in the evisceration of 2 female candidates in the name of a candidate who has shown time and time again he will throw women under the bus any time it suits his needs. Granted, so many were outnumbered, shouted down, pressured to be quiet, stunned into inaction, but so few in the end took a stand. So-called progressives yelped about Dems who switched parties as not caring about the issues, but these same progressive chose affirmative action over issues. But that doesn't disappoint me so much. The worst part of it for me was watching Americans elect someone to the Presidency of the United who has never done anything to serve his country, or anyone other than himself and his immediate circle. They were sold a line (change), and somehow believed that Barack Obama is a democrat. So many didn't see through this farce of an election. They repeated back Obama and Media "McCain is negative" talking points, over and over again. They called Cindy McCain a thief and a drug addict. They followed a man who has put down voters and let a movement of divisiveness and hate. And for what? Health care he promises that he knows nothing about. The same $600 tax break Michelle Obama mocked. I can understand some of the kids voting for him. They're told he's a democrat, they're tired of Bush, they want something different and he had a great marketing team. I can understand some African Americans getting caught up in the atmosphere. But the rest? No. Someone said to me the day before this happened "We'll see what Americans are made of November 4th". And we did. How very very very sad. And now we enter a new realm. Senators will no longer have to work for their constituents before they start running for president. Statesmen can spend their entire time in office preparing to run, rather than serving the people. The race for the presidency has become little more than an American Idol contest. Very sad indeed.

How on the earth could the American people be taken in by this scam artist and elect what we see above. I am saddened to see this is what we are made of.

If people see Powell's endorsement as random in it's timing, then I'm going to say...a long, long time.

Like any of us will forget John "I won't endorse" Edwards endorsing Obama only hours after Sen. Clinton won WV by 40 points.

Or Naral endorsing Obama after Sen. Obama made some strange comments about women getting blue and having abortions. Please note Naral also got a prime time speaking spot at the Dem. Nat'l Convention.

And after last week's debate, even though media is declared Obama the slight winner of the debate, the polls are tightening.
